Hello Victor Families,
I would like to update you on a few matters associated with today's weather. Victor School has power at this time. The lights are on so we are conducting classes and operating as usual. High School lunch will be a closed campus today and our kitchen is prepared.
Due to the unstable weather conditions, the Victor Fire Department has recieved over 65 calls for downed trees and power lines. At this time, several of our bus routes are blocked due to debris, downed trees or downed power lines. We are monitoring this closely and, if neccessary, will adjust our plans for end-of-day dismissal accordingly.
At this time, and with an abundance of consideration and caution, we do not anticipate the need to cancel school for the day (but new circumstances could require a change to this). It would be unsafe to put our students out on the roads, and also unsafe to ask our parents to be out on the roads to retrieve their children. Parents do always maintain the right to pick their children up and check them out of school at their discretion.
We are aware that other schools in the valley are without power and are dismissing their students. If we also lose power, we can operate for a couple of hours without it, but there is a limit to that. We have a protocol in place for power outage and will cross that bridge if we come to it.
This is a very busy time for our First Responders, and we thank them for their responsiveness, hard work, and dedication.

Students must wear nice concert clothing, if you don't have appropriate concert clothing, it can be borrowed from the Music uniform closet the evening of the concert

These drills will be held after hours (and after the MS bball games). They will begin at approximately 7:00 pm.

On Tuesday Victor 4th Graders celebrated their win over their Kindergarten buddies in the annual Can the Cat/Griz food drive.

Congratulations to Mrs. Montague's 2nd grade class for taking 1st place on the school side and Congratulations to Barbara Stephani and Roylene Gaul and Audrey Z. who tied for first place on the community side!
The game might be close, but in our food drive, the 4th Grade Grizzlies absolutely canned the Kindergarten Bobcats with a huge win for the first time ever! Our very first food drive brought in 350 items, and this year we skyrocketed to 1,331 items! Huge thank-you to our amazing community for helping make it happen!

The Neely Center has had so many generous donations to feed the Victor community this Thanksgiving.

The memorial service for Coach Mike "Otto" Thill will be held at the Florence School gym on Friday, November 7, at 11:00 am. If you have photos of Coach Otto that you would like to include in the memorial slide show, please send them to Mr. Stiegler right away.
Victor School lost one of our own on Thursday, October 16. Coach Mike "Otto" Thill was a substitute and basketball coach at Victor School for the past year. His tragic passing is difficult to accept for our school community. People grieve in many ways, so their emotions may be visible early or surface at a later time. If your students need help getting through this, please remind them they can request to speak with a school staff member, counselor, or administrator during the school day.
